David Pollitt

All training at Chalk Fitness is directed by 22 year veteran strength & conditioning coach/personal trainer David Pollitt. No, that was not a typo. David has been training clients to accomplish their sport and fitness goals since 1990! Don’t trust your fitness to an upstart trainer who’s only been doing this for a few years. You don’t want to be their guinea pig as they learn the craft of personal training. David has trained thousands of clients ranging from elite professional athletes to people recovering from debilitating diseases. He’s seen it all, which means he has experience training people exactly like you. David has the ability to connect with people as he listens to their needs and understand where they’re at.
Born and raised in Canada, David has a degree in Physical Education from the University of Manitoba, and is a graduate of the Olympic Academy of Canada. After college David completed several extensive internships with the National Team Development Centre and the Calgary Olympic Development Association. His professional certifications include being a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist title from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Certified Fitness Appraiser from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiologists, and Weightlifting certifications from both Canada and the United States. As a sport coach David is an advanced Level IV coach with USA Hockey and a master coach in Cross Country Skiing (in Canada). Over the years David has written peer-reviewed journal articles, magazine articles and pair of books on the training of hockey player.
As a former nationally ranked athlete in cross country skiing, David has also spent years playing hockey and participating in triathlon/running events. He is married with a young son, and in 2008 finally became a proud U.S. citizen!
Eryn

Coach Eryn has one of the more eclectic backgrounds you’ll come across at Chalk. Since graduating from Pepperdine University in 2006, she’s worked in high school ministry, a church missions department, at a shipyard, on a mega yacht (yeah we thought it was cool too), and is currently the Assistant Director of Admissions at an optometry school in addition to being a coach at Chalk. She originally got her personal training certification to provide fitness services to brides whose weddings she was coordinating (oh yeah, she coordinates weddings in her “free time” as well) but never had an interest in coaching at a large corporation. When the chance to coach at Chalk came her way, she just couldn’t pass up working at a place that values fitness and people as much as she does.
Marco

Marco’s passion for fitness coaching and athletics made Chalk the perfect fit for him. As a collegiate athlete participating in track and cross country, Marco finished a Bachelor’s in Criminology and has competed in high level Jiu Jitsu for the past six years. His lifelong love of competitive athletics has yielded both a lover and a fighter, and when he’s away from Chalk, Marco has been trading up belts year after year. It’s safe to assume that he’s forgotten more about Jiu Jitsu then most of us even know about it. Marco typifies Chalk instruction with his passion for athletics and a genuine desire to help people reach their fitness goals.
Veronika

Coach Veronika was born in the Czech Republic and raised in Orange County. Currently working on a degree in Psychology from CSULA, she is an ISSA Certified trainer who loves Chalk for the opportunity to help others and learn from them. When she’s not running BMT’s at Chalk, Veronica enjoys running, hiking, rock climbing and cooking Paleo. What remains of her free time is currently tied up in a puggle, chi-weenie (pronounced chi—actually I have no idea how to pronounce that), and a good book dripping with coffee.
Paula

Paula is the resident yoga instructor here at Chalk Fitness. She has a passion for health and fitness and aims to inspire those she meets to develop a yoga practice to achieve a greater sense of well-being. Paula loves the holistic nature of yoga and that Chalk too embraces that mindset by addressing all the elements that go into healthful living and feeling great! Yogi by day, singer in a band by night, and healthy food aficionado – when not teaching yoga, you’ll catch Paula humming a tune or creating a playlist while enjoying some delicious (possibly green-hued) concoction she’s whipped up.
